Starting from Ngurah Rai Airport, takes two hours to reach Maumere (the eastern and largest town in Flores). If you want to have a visit to Komodo dragon first, you can take a flight to Labuanbajo, located on the Western part of the island, then you can continue your overland journey to explore the Eastern part.
As a volcanic island, Flores has many unique and spectacular attractions. Mount Kelimutu (1792m) has become one of the favorite tourist destination, with its three crater lakes of different colors.
Flores is also known with its Ikat weaving, the well-known tie-dyeing weaving technique. There are also many interesting places worth to be visited such as : traditional houses and megalithic tombs, Nature Conservation Park in Riung mainly to protect the under water ecosystem, an island with unspoiled mangrove forests inhabited by thousands of huge fruit eating bats.
Wae Rebo, an old Manggaraian village, is worth to visit. Situated in pleasant, isolated mountain scenery, this village offers visitors a unique opportunity to see authentic Manggarai housing and to experience the everyday life of the local community. In the village of Wae Rebo, visitors can see “mbaru niang” – traditional, circular cone-shaped houses with very unique architecture. Nowadays, it is still a place to hold meetings, rituals and Sunday-morning prayers together.

Day 01: DENPASAR – MAUMERE
Your afternoon program is visiting Watublapi, a hamlet about 18 km south east of Maumere locally known for it’s fertile land and rich in exotic tropical plants and fruits. You will be entertained with dances and folk songs accompanied with local dishes and drinks. There is chance for you to comprehend more about Ikat Weaving, the well-known tie-dyeing weaving technique. The Ikat are both as cultural and economical products since the women in the village earn their living from selling the Ikat.
Day 02: MAUMERE – MONI or DETUSOKO
There are places around the town worth to be visited, such as Maumere market, Wuring – the fisherman village with houses built on stilts and Ledalero Museum. Lunch will be provided in Paga Beach Restaurant or in Wolowaru. During the day you will experience the dramatic change in both nature pattern and ethnicity. In the afternoon you will find yourself in the Lio ethnic’s environment. Pay a call to their villages (such as in Lisedetu with traditional Houses) and try to comprehend the local’s daily life or just having a closer look into their work of architectures.
Day 03 : DETUSOKO/MONI – KELIMUTU – MAUMERE
It is worth to experience the sunrise at Kelimutu – the three colored crater lakes. You will begin your day early in the morning (start at about 4 .00 o’clock). Once you arrive in Kelimutu you will find yourself something like nowhere, incomparable with known told stories – photos or even moving pictures you have seen before. After admiring the nature wonder drive down hill and visit some villages (Koanara and Ranggase with traditional houses) to get yourself in traditional surroundings to comprehend the Lio ethnic’s daily and to understand their work of civilization. Such as the typical Lio House, some of them are decorated with breast figure as to symbolize the fertility and prosperity. The Lio people also well known for the Ikat weaving – the tie-dyeing weaving technique. Afternoon return to Maumere.
Day 04: MAUMERE – DENPASAR
